Our self-catering Fisherman’s Hut on Loch Maaruig, Isle of Harris offers a couple or single person compact, but well-appointed accommodation in a fabulous mountain and sea-loch setting.

Although next door to the newly opened Loom Shed, the Fisherman’s Hut sits in its own fenced-off area with its own parking space. Wherever you look there is something to see: from the doorway of the Hut you look directly onto Loch Maaruig as the tide ebbs and flows and have lovely views of Harris hills that surround the property, Clisham sits in front and Todun is directly behind the Hut. For those simply seeking a rest the surprisingly well-appointed Hut (It has a kitchenette, electric shower and toilet) offers comfortable, albeit compact accommodation comfort with convenient access to the main road to Stornoway (29 miles) and Tarbert (9 miles) or to explore the Harris and Lewis.

Within the Hut, considerable thought has been given to ensure that all you need for your holiday are neatly fitted into the space available; it even has WiFi. Entering through the front door you will step into the living area, with the double bed on your left, the kitchenette directly in front of you and the en-suite toilet and shower in its own enclosed space to your right. The kitchenette has a two-burner hob, a small fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster, the living area contains a table and two chairs. The floor is of natural wood, very practical in a small space and the whole atmosphere inside the Hut is made homely and welcoming with carefully selected decorations and enhancements.

The more adventurous visitors will find all their needs well-addressed, the immediate nearness of the Loch offers the perfect facility for launching boats of all kinds and you may well see David and Julia out on the Loch in their kayaks; paddleboarding is also an option. You must bring your own boats and space is available, albeit not under cover for storing boats for the duration of your stay. For walkers and cyclists, the options are almost limitless, the Hebridean Way is not too far, David and Julia who regularly walk the hills will be happy to give you some pointers should you wish. Under-cover storage is available for bicycles.

Other than its very many natural charms there are plenty of other sights to see and things to do, fishing and golf are available nearby, Luskentyre Beach and other spectacular beaches are not far away – what is there not to enjoy?
